Last Saturday, our girls traveled to Indiana to feed the hungry at Caring Hands Soup Kitchen. Working with care for several hours, our girls prepared and served meals to over 100 people in need from that community, including the homeless, elderly, working poor, and people with health problems and disabilities. Our young ladies had a great time serving others, and said the experience helped remind them to focus on their blessings in life, rather than things they want.
“It made me realize how lucky I am, and to stop complaining because some people don’t have anything,” said one of our girls.
Our young women also reflected on the importance of volunteering as a way to inspire empathy. Said another of our girls, “Before you go judging someone, you have to volunteer at a soup kitchen and know what they go through. Appreciate all of the little things you have in life.”
Thanks to Caring Hands Soup Kitchen for welcoming our Home—we couldn’t be more proud of our girls for their community service efforts!
