Bill Rancic, television star, entrepreneur, and Mercy Home Board of Regents member, hosted a dinner for a group of our young people at his Chicago restaurant, RPM Italian.
The boys and girls were very excited about the opportunity, and they all dressed up and were on their very best behavior. For their dinner, Rancic served them a sampler of many of RPM’s dishes: they got to try a variety of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. He also gave each of them a pair of nice headphones.
But the evening was more than an opportunity to enjoy fine dining: it was an opportunity to learn about business, entrepreneurship, and management. Rancic took the young people on a tour of the restaurant’s kitchen, and then brought in his business partners to speak to the group. They each spoke about how they got their start in the restaurant business, the hard work it takes to run several restaurants at once, and what it is like to be their own bosses.RPM’s chef invited one of our young men, Alan, who is interested in becoming a chef himself, to shadow him in the RPM kitchen.
Our young people were thrilled about the experience, and had much to discuss as they headed back to Mercy Home. Thanks to Bill Rancic for providing such a unique dining and learning experience!
