Three of our board members, Rana Jewel Wright, Shay Bahramirad, and Micae Brown, visited the Girls Campus to participate in a career panel where they presented their story of how they achieved success in their careers to our young women.
Rana serves as the General Counsel of Harris Associates, a premier asset manager. She manages the legal, compliance, risk and regulatory functions of the company globally. Shay is the Vice President of Engineering and Smart Grid at ComEd. She is responsible for ComEd’s vision of the grid for the future, ComEd system reliability, engineering, planning, and developing frameworks for emerging technology roadmaps and investment strategies. Micae is the founder and CEO of Micae Brown Sales Agency. She leads her team of experts to help businesses across the country develop sales strategies to sell their products and services.
Each of the women independently expressed interest in talking to our young ladies about their career paths, and were thrilled to spend time with our girls. Our girls were also very interested in hearing from this diverse group of successful women.
“I think the board members did a great job talking about their backgrounds and the path to their career,” Elizabeth Sorice, the Director of the Walsh Academy, said. “It was also a good overview of different industries and different jobs within that field.”
The girls were particularly interested in learning more about STEM careers. Though many had not considered that career path, they recognized how many options there are in STEM fields.
We are incredibly thankful to Rana, Shay, and Micae for taking time to give our young women guidance and inspiration for their future careers.
