Mercy Home receives so much support from our beloved volunteers in various programs that help over 650 abuse and neglected children striving for a brighter future. Read more to find out how they fell in love with Mercy Home and became such amazing friends to the home.
When my wife and I researched children’s charities in Chicago, we quickly came across Mercy Home.
We have always felt strongly about children’s causes. We were especially drawn to Mercy Home because of its efforts to break the cycle of poverty by improving the educational prospects of at-risk youth.
Interactions with Mercy Home youth are always inspiring. I am on the Ambassador’s Boardand Investment Committee, but my most memorable Mercy Home experiences were as a tutor. It is powerful to witness the drive and motivation of youth to improve their future prospects given that they have come from such challenging circumstances with heartbreaking stories. Their energy and optimism is infectious and humbling.
Any amount of time that volunteers spend with Mercy Home youth is valuable for these children and young adults. There will always be a need for positive role models and mentors and teachers and tutors. You will get as much or more from the experience as you give.
