On February 1, Father Scott Donahue was a featured speaker at “The Gathering IX” sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The Knights of Columbus is a global Catholic fraternal service organization that has supported Mercy Home for years, particularly during our March for Kids campaign.
The event was held at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Ill., and the theme of the day was Power of Purpose. As Father Scott addressed the 400 in attendance, he highlighted the powerful purpose of Mercy Home in the city of Chicago for at-risk youth.
During his speech he also evoked a mantra that has resonated with him throughout his life: “what has been given as gift, give as gift.”
After sharing this sentiment, Father Scott explained how his coworkers at Mercy Home put this ideal into action everyday through the support they provide for youth and families.
Before concluding, Father Scott also expressed gratitude and encouragement to the audience for their commitment to support Mercy Home’s upcoming March for Kids campaign, which will raise awareness and crucial funds for our children.

The Knights of Columbus have participated in March for Kids for the last decade, and this year more councils than ever before will support the Home by collecting donations at churches, hosting fish fries, and throwing St. Patrick’s Day fundraising parties.
