The USA Today listed Mercy Home for Boys & Girls as a top workplace. The honor was announced in a special edition of the USA Today spotlighting the best places to work across the country. The outcome was based on the same annual employee survey that has resulted in Mercy Home being named a Top Workplace locally by the Chicago Tribune for the past 12 years.
“This is an incredible honor for Mercy Home,” said Mercy Home President & CEO Fr. Scott Donahue. “That we are recognized year after year as one of the best places to work here in Chicago is a reflection of the supportive environment to which all my coworkers contribute every day. But to be named among the top places to work in the entire country speaks volumes about the excellence of our coworkers and the overall state of our mission to care for young people and families.”
While the award acknowledges the great work that takes place at Mercy Home throughout the year, it’s also a message about the quality of our working environment and culture that we hope appeals to qualified professionals far and wide.
“I think this says that Mercy Home should be top of mind for anyone interested in a career in youth care, whether they live nearby or are considering relocating from elsewhere,” Fr. Scott said.
Mercy Home was listed in the category of companies and organizations with between 150 and 499 employees. Like the Chicago Tribune program, the list includes both for profit and nonprofit institutions. The workplace survey on which the award is based has been conducted by Engergage, an employee engagement platform that analyzes employee input to assess company culture and workplace satisfaction. Top Workplace honors are based exclusively on the feedback that Energage collects.
“A Top Workplaces award brings a company’s culture strengths to the national stage, helping them differentiate in a fiercely competitive landscape,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “It’s a morale-boosting honor for the workforce and an effective magnet for attracting top-tier talent.”
The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization: including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.
Survey responses consistently show that the sense of mission and being able to make a difference in the lives of others are important factors in coworker satisfaction.
